As we travel around the vast 1st Senate District on this campaign, I thought it would be important to document the journey along the way. We took a long weekend road trip this last weekend through Sacramento, Placer and Nevada Counties. The 1st Senate District includes a lot of beautiful country and some really friendly people.
We started on Saturday at the Scott’s home in Folsom. They hosted the Sunrise Folsom Area Republicans annual BBQ. Congressman Lungren was there with several other candidates and lots of good Republican friends.
Then it was on the road to Truckee and the Republican Women’s Federated “Doing it Right!” annual fund raiser. It was great to meet Carla Embertson who I had known only via Facebook and to experience the scenic grandeur of the Krampert’s home.
On we went to our last stop for the day: Graeagle and the local Tea Party Patriots’ Senate Candidate Forum. Sandy Hopkins has done a superb job of recruiting folks from all over to join in the effort to get our country back on the “right” track. They hosted a spirited exchange between me and one of my opponents in the 1st Senate District Special Election.
We were fortunate today on Sunday to be able to extend our visit to this very scenic corner of the great state by attending the Portola Rotary Club’s Annual Fly-in Pancake Breakfast. We had a great morning meal, enjoyed a wonderful display of cars, fire engines and airplanes and (again) met lots of wonderful people.
There will be more road trips along the way and we are getting ready for a massive swing through the district next week. Stay tuned for an announcement of that. I hope to see you at one of our stops!
