Key Issues

EDUCATION - Roger is a strong believer that California’s schools should be #1 in the nation. He is committed to fully funding education in California and supporting our educators and empowering them with the tools needed to produce positive academic outcomes for our students. Roger also understands that in order for students to be successful, we have to have safe and healthy campuses for them to learn in. Roger will prioritize investments in campus safety enhancements, such as school resource officers, as well as mental health counselors and supportive services.

HEALTHCARE - California is home to some of the best doctors and hospitals in the nation, yet for too many in our community, healthcare costs are too high and access to care inaccessible. In the Senate, Roger would work to address rising healthcare costs by reducing burdens to practice and allowing for more California-educated nurses, doctors, and therapists to gain licenses in the state. He would also promote tax savings accounts that empower families to invest in their future health.

HOMELESSNESS - Roger has worked on homelessness issues throughout his career, pushing for common-sense, bipartisan solutions that reform the way we treat those suffering from mental health and substance abuse to make it easier for families and social workers to take action when someone simply can’t act on their own accord. Roger also fully supports, and as an elected official and private citizen, invested in efforts to build more emergency shelter and permanent affordable housing to provide a pathway out of homelessness for those struggling to get by.

INFRASTRUCTURE - Throughout his career, Roger has been able to deliver millions of dollars in funding to Sacramento and Placer Counties to build quality infrastructure to connect households across the region to jobs and educational opportunities.  In the Senate, Roger will work across party lines to fund new roads, bridges, water storage and flood control.
